Just had a quick question and if anybody would know it would be someone here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I am looking for a lockout tailcap for the G2, surefire says they do not make one but is there another manufacturer that makes one or has a compatible one. Thanks

Unscrew the bezel or the Kroll clickie mod.

The clickie from a Garrity/Ozark Trail 2AA light (about 7 bucks at Walmart) has no momentary but is near impossible to accidently activate and is very positive to use. My lights are equipped with them!

$5.99 are you outta your mind! Must.... buy.... arghhh!

I concur w/ Fellow inland empire Flashaholic, that the Ozark clickie is the way to go!! and makes the G2 smaller--- This was my first SF light and my first mod--- got me hooked!!

Yeah, G2Z tailcap will work fine. I saw PentaLite's belt-clip tailcap that works like a cell phone's belt-clip. Its plastic material looks compatible with G2's housing. Assuming G2 and 6P have same threading, then I think that phone clip's thread will fit on G2 also because I tried it on my 6P at Shotshow and it felt pretty good on my belt. Don't know where to get one though. I don't think they're in stores yet.

I have a few spare 2AA Ozark Trail lights for sale if you can't find one locally. they are 8.00 plus shipping.

I need something also, so being cautious I called Surefire to order the tailcap but also talked to someone there. He said the threads on the G2Z tailcap are not the same as the g2 and cautioned against using it to prevent future problems. Any comments?

I own the G2 and the G2Z, just swaped tail caps without problem. The G2Z lockout worked fine though it felt a bit loose in the threads while screwing it on.

I had a Kroll Classic on my first G2 for all of an hour.

If you think a stock G2 is touchy and prone to accidental activation, the Classic made it WAY more so!

Though I understand all Kroll are NOT created equally!

Thanks for the tip Lux

I hope you're right... I called Surefire today to place an order, and dealt with a very nice guy (David), but he couldn't confirm this price... of course he couldn't even find a price for this item in his computer, so he is going to "look into it" and get back to me.

On the upside... I ordered an E2O clip for only $5.80... a whole bunch of batteries, a catalog -- AND they are taking care of a bulb issue I have with a P61 (sending me a replacement NC).

The E2O clip was in the computer w/ a price, but he said he also had to 'confirm' that price.

I got the feeling that many parts are 'available' in a kinda-sorta sort of way... not part of 'regular stock' be can be bought is you ask. I just hope the price doesn't fluctuate depending upon who's being asked lol.

I was quoted something like $35.99 today by a Surefire rep.

He had to take 2 days to find the price, so I assume he found the right one.

Oh well, it sounded too good to be true.

I just ordered a G2Z lock-out tailcap and also the bezel (both in black) for my existing G2. The email I got from SF Customer Service asking about price says:

"Sir,
You need a 14334-1 cap ***'y, list price $5.06, and a 14401-1
bezel, list price $14.72

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to write back or call
us at 1-800-828-8809. We are dedicated to providing world-class customer service and welcome future inquiries or comments."

The earlier comment about the tailcap feeling "loose" is pretty accurate; it works, threads don't seem to be _too_ mismatched, but it does seem to turn easier than the stock tailcap (also my stock G2Z doesn't have quite this feel). The bezel seems to work great, so now my G2 has a pyrex lens to better withstand drops, the P61, etc.; and a lock out tailcap.

Total price $28 (G2) + $5 (tailcap) + $15 (bezel) = about $50 for a pretty solid light (+ spare parts). Of course, my G2Z (OD Green) I got for about $60, so no huge savings.

Surefire charged me $5.99. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm fairly certain that availability AND prices depend
on who happens to answer the phone on a particular day.

If you don't ask, you don't get. How you ask also seems to
be important. If you say something like, "is this item available as an accessory?",
the answer will be a simple "NO". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you say, "I need one of these for my light but I can't
find the part number - could you look it up for me?",
you'll have better results. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's a shame that it comes down to what my wife calls "Jedi
mind tricks" but we have to cheerfully persuade people to
help us sometime. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
