hello everyone.... 1st time posting here.
i have a g3 that just stopped working. batteries are good and the bulb is also. i know this because i placed the bulb and battery in my g2 and they fire up. i'm thinking that the problem may be the tailcap which is a mute point now because i was playing with it and i lost the spring for it. i did try the g2 tailcap on the g3 and it did not work.
as for the x3 i'm lost. all of the above applies to it except i have no other pentagon to use as a control. further, it is a very different light than the surefires.
is there a simple fix or am i sending these lights off for warranty?
thanks in advance for any advise you can give.

what spring did you exactly loose?

If it was the tailcaps contact spring, then this is the reason, obviously. This would not be covered under warranty, you cant blame the manufacturer for that.

i lost the tailcap spring.... i'm not blaming the manufacture of either light. the spring was in the tailcap and after ellimiminating all other possabilities i thought it might be the tailcap spring. i was trying to "unspring" if you will and it popped out and is lost. i still think that it was the matter but now i can't be sure.
i am frustrated though because these lights are no more than 2-3 months old and have only had 2 sets of primaries ran through them each. the x3 had the batteries removed and placed in a drawer for later use. i pulled it out and installed new batteries in it and nothing

Welcome to CPF!

I suggest you give SureFire a call - explain what happened. You can let them know that during your quest to fix your flashlight you lost the TailCap spring. They may well still be able to help you out.

i did just that and i am extremely impressed with both companies. the guy at surefire was a big help and is sending me a new tailcap. he wants me to call them back when i get it.
pentagon wants me to send them the x3... cool! they informed me that their lights have a lifetime warranty and gave me an RMA #
on a side note i just got a new 6P yesterday.... MAN what a piece of equipment!! i like the incan bulb so much i think i will leave it in there. i noticed that there is better color rendition than my LED lights.
SUREFIRE ROCKS

Sappyg,

Any updates? I am more interested in Pentagonlight's warranty, but I definitely want to know how both warranty claims went down.
