Hello all,

I was the lucky person to be able to purchase Genes Tri-Led proto-type and a p-60 drop-in. I took some beam shots this evening from approx 5 1/2 feet from a wall.

1st shot Genes original mag drop in, 3d cell mag light on the left and the Tri-Led on the right in a 4d cell mag light.

2nd shot is my Surefire Kl-5 head mounted on a P6 (left) and Genes P-60 drop-in on the right.

Here is a shot of the Tri-Led drop in:

Some comments on the Tri-Led: Wow, this thing is unbelievably bright when Gene said it would be like carrying around a headlight, he wasn't kidding. The pictures don't do it justice, I was walking around my yard a few nights ago and my next door neighbor came out to see where all the light was coming from. The P-60 drop in is fantastic... lots of light...

GREAT JOB Gene... I need one more p-60 for my other Surefire....

If anyone has any questions, I will try to answer.

I'm in as well, any way to send off money now for one built in the future Gene? Or two?

Keep up the good work, simply amazing things coming out of your place seems like every day. :)

Thanks for the heads-up on these cool drop-in mods from Malkoff Devices.

Unfortunately, that beamshot is not particularly helpful for comparison purposes. When examining the side-by-side shot of the single LED 3D drop-in next to the triple LED 4D drop-in, it looks like the single drop-in is slightly brighter.

I suspect that your digital camera adjusted exposures between the two shots (which you stitched together), thus rendering the apparent light output almost equal to the eye.

Hello,
where can i buy a tree led drop in for d mag ?

and do you know the "lumens" of this drop in ?
thank you

Hello,
and do you know the "lumens" of this drop in ?
thank you

The 240 lumens as stated on Gene's website are, as is conventional, emitter lumens as specified by the manufacturer at 1000mA. That will help you compare to everybody's lights except Surefire's, who do lumens out the front after optical losses. In order to compare the drop in to your P60 bulb, you need to use the standard ratio (only a rough estimate, of course) of 2/3. So when applied to 240, that puts us at about 160 lumens out the front in comparison to 65 out the front from the P60.

@ Daekar

Thank you for your reply,
But, i'm talking about the TREE ( 3) leds drop in the tread is talkin about,
so i hope, it must have more than 500 lumens.

Thank you

The tri-led puts out 1100ma per emitter in a 4D (720+ lumens). It very much resembles a car headlight except whiter. Throw is about 800+ feet with enough spill to light up my whole front yard. Runtime at the specified output is about 1 to 1 1/2 hrs on 4 D alkalines.

you juste have to ad a driver with to level ol light like 20% and 100% and you'll have a terrific mod i'll certainly buy :)
