I was cleaning my o-rings last night and dropped the front glass from my Oceanic OP20i :faint:

I chipped a sliver off the edge, about 0.5mm at deepest

I dont think it was a popular light and I cant find anyone selling spares, I have emailed oceanic.
Dimensions are 62.0mm * 5.8mm
Any suggestions who would stock this? or could make one?

My best thoughts for repair is to fill the gap with epoxy and file it back until the lens is circular again.

I would just get some plastic from ebay and get a local lathe man to cut it for you.

It will most likely be stronger and cheaper than the glass original.

Does an O ring sit around the lens or behind it?
If it sits behind it then it may still seal.

I'm also looking for 1 7/8" boro glass 1/4" thick... McMaster goes from 1 3/4" to 2"...

The good news is that Oceanic got back to me quickly .... but they dont stock the light or have any spares :mecry:

The o-ring seals around the edge so no let up there.

Current thoughts are to lightly grind the broken surface to allow epoxy to key in and grind back to size.

I think I will also buy a lens from Lucca's suggestion, but that is not without its problems. I can deal with the extra 1mm although turning out the inside of the housing and o-ring groves to accept the larger diameter will not be easy, it is the extra 4mm of lens thickness that worries me.
Currently the lens sits on a shoulder in the housing, one o-ring in a deep groove seals around the edge of the lens, a second o-ring sits in a shallower groove which holds the lens in.
I could either drop the shoulder 4mm or make the second groove as deep as the first so it is a simple double o-ring design.

Why does this have to happen 10 days before a dive trip to the other side of the world.:sick2:

Go to a local glass shop and see if they can help...they either can or can't.

The epoxy idea will probably work as well.

Go polycarbonate! It's easy.....

Guys, I just found a place called cincinnatigasket.com. They'll cut boro glass (and I guess glass in general) to your specs. I don't know about 1 or two quantity or lead times, but worth checking out.
