UPDATE: Post #34

I had a user LunaSol 20 that I carried with me occasionally when my pants weren't too tight to make it uncomfortable. Much like AWTYD, I prefer no clips and I would pocket carry it so the other day I went to a local clothing store to try on some new diggs. I don't know what happened exactly but I think it may have disappeared somewhere in the fitting room. Most likely it fell out of my pants when disrobing and I didn't notice it. So I checkout, get to my car where I realize the LS20 is not on my person. I freak out and go back inside to the fitting room where it's nowhere to be found. In my years as a flashaholic I've never felt these feelings about a missing light before. Because while I have bought and sold many many lights in the past - including McGizmo's - I've always done so on my own accord usually when I need the cash. But this time it's a feeling akin to the light being taken from me against my will. I hate it, and LS20's are no longer in production. I really can't afford a WTB thread at this time and I honestly just feel like sulking. It's eating at me thinking that some person out there has a ~$500 light and is oblivious to the fact.

Checked with the lost and found dept and no dice. Is the loss of a McGizmo a fatal attraction? I mean, does the grieving ease over time?
:fail:

Definitely sucks to lose something of value, $$ or sentimental. I am sure you will be able to purchase another in the future, there is always a way.

Very sorry to hear that Bruce. :(

Maybe you can post up a reward for anyone returning the light. As you say, they wouldn't realize how valuable it is, so a $50, no-questions-asked, reward might do the trick.

I know I'd be completely devastated to lose a prized McGizmo. :candle:

Bruce, That is indeed a bad situation. Hopefully it turns up.

I personally have a fear of loosing lights/knives/keys and other stuff I carry on me and it has become an unconscious habit for my hands to brush my pockets to check the contents when entering or leaving cars, restaurants, and other places I end up.

Another safety measure I've taken with lights that get carried is a small slip of paper inside the battery tube with all my return info...the note also says "for reward, please return to"....address, phone#, email...hopefully if it's lost it will end up in the hands of an honest person.
BIB, I think you mentioned seeing this note when I let you borrow my E1B-UV light.
I feel for ya bro! I'd FREAK OUT if I lost my LS20..
Best of luck finding it or a replacement my friend!

Really sorry to hear about that. Might want to check the with local Pawn Shops and leave a picture with them offering a "reward" for buying it off the miscreant if it shows up?

Hey Bruce,
That really blows! I never use my clip to clip, but I use it to attach a lanyard and then it just slips in my pocket for carry. Not to hijack your thread, but here I go anyways. Last week a few guys broke into my house and fortunately I did not lose anything. All my lights are always kept inside a long gun safe I purchased from Costco a few years ago. The safe proved to be too tough for the perps. I have two rifles, a shotgun and two pistols. But the only thing I was really concerned about when the locksmith came out to open the badly damaged safe was my LS20. Everything in the safe was in perfect condition, thanks. I bought the safe to protect little one's from my silly hobbies and never thought about thieves. Well, I hope my story make you feel like I'm glad I'm not that guy. So get yourself another LS20. I know there is one out there with your name on it.
Frank

Sorry to hear of your loss. I can feel your pain. I too had a McGizmo "liberated" from me. It really does get at you. I can't say that it does not bother me anymore. Although it doesn't sting as hard today as it did right after the incident it still bothers me somewhat. I do have one more that I have not been carrying since the incident. But then I realized that I am the one who doesn't gain from having a great tool at my disposal. So I have been using the one I have more and more. I hope you are able to replace it when you can. All the best.

Regards.

Thats sucks! Really hope you find it... did you leave your number with the store?

I work part time at a retail store, and people leave heaps of stuff behind. Lighters, sunglasses, wallets - someone even forgot their shoes.

I'm not going to lie and say its not tempting to just hang onto some of it. But then I always think to myself, how bad I feel when I lose stuff. So I just stick a note to it and leave it under the counter for when they come back.
Once I had to run out the store because this lady forgot her entire handbag.

Hopefully your light will find its way back to you.

Bummer!! I have lost a number of expensive and "special" tools through the years and especially when I used to work in the marine industry and be out on the docks. I have a Mission titanium knife and I was so concerned about loosing it that I engraved my name and phone number on it. I still have the knife but my phone number has changed as it has been 20 years or more.

The clip I now supply on the lights is real tight as many of you know and probably too tight for most of you. That was intentional after I lost my prototype on an airplane and presumably because the clip allowed itself to be worked up my pocket while sitting and trying to sleep on a 5 hour flight. Or perhaps in the taxi after the flight. My mind was elsewhere at the time and my fault at the loss.

As with the others, I hope your light finds itself getting back to you.

have you thought of putting up a couple fliers?
in the store, a simpler 'REWARD' with a photo of the light and your phone number.
Once the batteries die I'm sure whomever has it will be more interested in getting some money for it instead of feeding it.

Dang Bruce, sorry for your loss. :candle:

Let this be a lesson to us all, be very careful if you are gonna go clipless, or you will lose your McG. :(

Yep... I know the feeling. I was sick to my stomach when I lost my Ti PD-S at a mall in Georgia and I felt the same sick feeling when I lost my Sebenza at a mall in St. Pete recently. I guess for me, I need to stay away from malls.

Sorry to hear that, Bruce.
Hopefully it shows itself up somewhere.

I really prefer to have my lights, especially Ti lights, with clips either for pocket carry or for lanyard.

Thanks for the feedback everyone on their "condolences" :p for my loss. There's much worse things that can happen in life though than losing a flashlight. I've experienced much generosity in various forms - including even fundage to offset the cost of a replacement - but as grateful as I am it's just not like me to accept that sort of thing. You know who you are, thank you anyway. :grouphug:

As for the LS20, I spoke to two of the cashiers about what it looks like and left contact information in the event of a return. However posting up flyers for a missing flashlight, no matter how expensive, is a little ridiculous in my opinion but I appreciate those suggestions. I think I'm just going to have to come to terms with it being gone forever and take this as a lesson learned. Still though, I will continue to prefer my lights without lanyards or clips; that is until another turns up missing at least

I realize this thread isn't in quite the appropriate venue but since it involves Don's lights I figured what the heck. Cheers to everyone.

Kudos to you for taking it like a man, Bruce.....very refreshing :twothumbs Positive Karma heading your way.

If you remove the clip, it leaves 2 little holes that are just begging for a lanyard.... just something to consider for next time....

Bruce, oh man. Did you try the car, between the seat and console? Sometimes the little *******s slip quietly from the pants pocket and slip down under the driver's seat.

DaFab, wow, that's a really smart idea, placing the rolled up "Reward if Found" paper around the cell.

As for me, I have an obsessive-compulsive disorder of checking my pants pocket about every five minutes for my light. Ironically, I, too, carry an LS 20 as primary EDC.
