Thomas-distributing has a few kinds of C NiMH cells, which are good? All are expensive BTW for something like $18/2 pack, any more reasonable prices?

CTA, Accupower, Maha, and so on.. There is also the less expensive Tenergy... Is it any good?

etc, FWIW, I engaged in a similar quest recently and wasn't able to dig up anything definitive. There was a very exhaustive report presented here comparing a large number of rechargeables, but the review specifically addressed AA size batts. It would seem logical that if a company's AA batteries performed well then we could expect similar performance from their other size batteries. Although, you know what they say about those who assume. Anyway, it's not much, but the best I can offer is to say that, in all the threads I researched, I didn't come across anything negative written about the more expensive C batteries that Thomas Distributing offers.

An alternative, if it works for you, at that price, I would try going with purchasing 8 Eneloops and switch them out earlier, saves having another size charger.

Considering price and quality, I don't think you can beat the Titaniums from Amondotech.com. I have their 5000 mAH C cells and am very happy with them. I also have some Tenergy C cells that I bought from batteryjunction.com, I'm happy with those also. Both the Titaniums and Tenergy's were about $4.50 each.

Thanks for feedback. I noticed that I get better performance out of NiMH cells than regular alkalines.

Not sure about Alkalines vs. Lithiums however. In C size, that isn't a contest of course (No C Lithium yet)

Technically the AW 'C' cell is slightly longer than a normal 'C' cell - so it might not fit in all lights - although you can get an extension tube / replacement tailcap that will accomodate their extra length.

I think he means Lithiums as in Energizer E2 Lithiums....not 3.7V Li-Ions.
