My mom asked me to get her a flashlight for her purse. I was planing on getting the preon 1, but I though I would ask here first. She doesn't need something as small as the preon, but it needs to use AA or AAA and be reliable. also, below $40. Thanks in advance.

AAA or AA Maratac.
The AA comes in aluminum ($29.00) or stainless steel (34.95)
The AAA comes in aluminum ($21.75), stainless steel and copper.
You can check them out at CountyComm.
I'm not sure if links are allowed, but you can Google it.
I just ordered the AA stainless steel version for my Parents.
It has 85 lumens on High with a 2 hour output.
Coincidentally, I was also looking into AA & AAA lights the last couple of days, and decided after research and feedback, that for the price point and quality, and user interface, etc. the Maratacs were the way to go.
I'll post a link to the thread I started that may help you out >>

I'd pay a visit to PeakLedSolutions website, and if something strikes your fancy, post a WTB over on cpf marketplace, or order exactly what she wants - they are "almost" custom built!

Made in U.S., good post sales service, and very high quality.

My mom loves the Neutral 4sevens Quark MiniAA that I bought her for EDC/purse duty. I actually loved it too and bought one for myself. :grin2:

Thanks, but that site seems to think I don't have flash installed, and I really hate messing with flash.

Maratac AA Stainless and Nitecore EZ
Thanks, I'll look into that. Can I get those on the CPF marketplace?

That is basically the same as the preon, but with a AA right?

Mine has a Gerber Infinity Ultra for the past few years w/ no complaints. I thought about taking the fauxton light off her keychain & replacing it w/ a arc AAA as well.

The Maratac may suit your mom as someone suggested. Heck an E01 would be good as well.

peaks are simple, and reliable. twist for on, and untwist for off.
i got my mom a jetbeam E3S, very simple 2-mode. little bit heavy though because of the stainless steel.
the first light i got her was a quark mini AA, but it was too complicated for her. she rarely uses it, so she would forget how to operate it.

I am not sure, but the Maratacs are sold exclusively? by CountyComm, as the Maratacs are their proprietary light.
Ah, that was the site I found, but it didn't look very... umm, professional, so I didn't really trust it.

I think the Nitecore EZ looks good though.

Yup, has the same interface (Low-Med-High w/hidden flashing modes) and is a twisty. It has knurling which helps you twist it much easier with one hand.

Edit: The EZAA is an excellent choice too.

Hmm, I was debating about the two, but she says she would prefer a larger one that is easier to find. I think I might just go for the fenix E20 at $30.

The MiniAA comes with a nice long lanyard that helps locate it when in a handbag etc. I also have some neon green or orange para cord (lanyard material) that I could send you. She'd definitely not lose it then. :)

I'm fairly certain that she can loose anything. :P That was sort of my thought with the preon, because it comes in bright colors. I'm sure by the time she gets it she will have changed her mind anyways.
Now she thinks $40 is too expensive, even though she said the preon was fine.

ITP A3 EOS in different colours 3 mode AAA,old model starts in medium ideal for most applications, new version starts in low.

Nextorch K1 single mode AAA cell, posh version of a Fenix EO1

For a purse light I would go to a big shed and buy an off the shelf AA clicky, you get a decent warranty and Terralux lightstar would suit.
