Good lights that take 10440?

Can these handle 4.2v 10440 for long period use (more than 10 seconds)?
-Fenix L0D Q4
-Fenix E01 GS
-KD Buckle V4 Q5

Ordered those but not sure about the 10440s. Im starting to like small single cell lights, EX10 next on the list.

When the L0D CE came out a number of members ran 10440. There were no reports of failures in 2007. In 2008 a number of reports of flickered and died or dimmed and died surfaced.
Using a 10440 voids your warrantee. Burning out an L0D with an 10440 is one of the few instances Fenix-store will NOT replace the light.

The GS is a a 5mm LED designed to run at 20mA. A 10440 would try to push over 1000mA through it. 50X the design would cause abright flash followed by darkness.

If you really want to run 10440 you should not have bought those lights but got a Liteflux LF2X instead. That light is designed to work with 10440.

In addition to Liteflux LF2 flashlights also Lumapower Avenger is designed for 10440's. A new batch is expected soon.

I have extensively used mine with Li-ion batteries without any problem. :)

According to the listed light specs it's a no no since the voltage is being exceeded by 1V. Obviously some people might get away with it for a certain amount of time. Let's just say it's taking a risk.

With regards to the 10440 and the LOD series of lights, it's true that a 10440 will void the warranty however there is a long track record of 10440 use in that light and many threads discussing it. I run 10440 exclusively in all four of mine LOD versions and they operate flawlessly as my backup EDC lights. A very small number have experienced some problems but that's not the norm. The battery gurus and electrical engineers will also tell you that the 10440 isn't up to the task but somehow it still works for a large number of people. Don't over discharge your batteries and don't run the light for over a minute on high. Here is just one good thread discussing the issue.

That was the old 2007 thread (mainly older P3/P4 high Vf bins) where there was no problems. Dig up the more recent 2008 threads after the lower Vf Q4 version was released and you will see reports of L0Ds dying.

I also had bought 4 L0D CE. One of them flickered badly all modes on 10440.
Worked fine on NiMH so I gifted it to a non-flashaholic with an Eneloop and charger.

I ended up using my 10440 in an Ultrafire 602c. (Warning. There are 2 versions of that light 1 compatible with 10440, the other not)

My latest solution for the bright pocketable light is the Ultrafire C3 Q5 head & Civictor V1 body & 14500. The Ultrafire C3 Q5 is rated for 14500 & the Civictor body makes for a compact light. The Ultrafire C3 Q5 with 14500 is slightly brighter than a L0D CE P4WD with 10440 so is probably about the same as a L0D Q4 with 10440. Also the battery drain is within safety limits.

Back in Jan 2007, the L0D CE was the only light capable of handling 10440 so members who need much more light than stock (which is already brighter than a 3D mag) have no choice but to use that combo. Now that lights designed for 10440 are available, I do not see why anyone would not get the proper light but get the improper light just so they can run it out of design spec.

I only use 10440's in my L0P, L0D, L0D Q2, L0d Ti and L0D Q4 and I've had no problems other than a slight flicker on low sometimes.

Is this really true for the newer LOD CEs? I bought one for my dad a couple weeks ago and a set of 10440s are in transit right now. Is his light in danger?
 
a good keychain light that runs on 10440s?

I have a spare set of 10440s and an empty spot on my keychain. What are some good cheap lights that run on 10440s. I already have my low light end covered by a e01 so i want something bright.
