Fixing to replace the luxeon (with a SSC) in my BD icon, and figure there must be some floods available too that will outperform the stock ones. ie more light for same current. Any suggestions on what LEDs I should use and where I can find them?

If you are looking for 5mm LED's, the best at this time is the Nichia GS. They are great when used in multiples. Try looking on the CPF Market Place. That is where I picked some up.

Hold that thought! I did buy some GS's and put them in my Icon and the beam changed from crappy blue flood into mostly throw. And it doesn't seem to be a bit brighter overall. The color is a warm white color and that is nice but it is not floody enough for my headlamp needs. Most of the light is projected in a 3-4' circle at 15'. There is a little spill but not much. The best thing I did to my Icon so far was to take a scotchbrite pad to the inside of the lens cover where the 5mms are. It smoothed out the crazy artifacts. I like mine but I think the flood could use more Oomph too.
