Never knew this existed, and only just found out about it -
is there anything new for this to come to the forefront again?

I don't know.

I heard about Google-411 when I visited the Mt. View campus in the summer of 2007. Back then they weren't advertising it because it was still in a mostly "testing" phase but it was well-known throughout the Google campus. Believe me, it made my visit to California that much better to have Google-411.

I do recall that sometime between then and now they put information about it on the website, but I don't know what's new that would warrant it coming into the spotlight.
