Just got a Fenix L1D today, and I can't seem to get it out of 'turbo' mode. It clicks on to what seems like a high level of brightness. A soft click puts it in constant strobe mode. The bezel moves when twisted, but the light never goes into the low/medium/hi/SOS mode.

I did a CPF search and didn't see a similar situation described. Any help is appreciated.

There might be two reasons for this, one, the light is malfunctioning, secondly, the head is actually two parts, the reflector and the circuity and the LED, some have reported a loose reflector part and that might also be your problem.

If you are using the 14500 battery, then is is normal that you can't get out of turbo since the circuity only has lower modes under 3.2v.

My suggestion after cleaning everything is ask for a replacement.

Forgot to mention that I'm using a fresh Energizer lithium cell it this light.

Make sure you are not just loosening the bezel. The bezel screws on the light engine that screws on the battery tube. It's the tube and light engine you need to loosen. Most Fenix bezels are glued tight, but if yours isn't you might just be loosening the bezel.

If the reflector part of the light is firmly in place and the light is still not going to low mode, then you have a broken light and you should return it. The same thing happened to some L1Ts and L2Ts (Luxeon versions), no low mode, there was a short somewhere on the circuitry.
