If you got plenty of 123s and nothing but short runtime lights for them, get an X5T. That will give you a long (for 123s) runtime 123 based light, which is waterproof, at least to some extent (not for diving).

just have lights for every battery type, both high and low draw.

Correct, John. It is sensible to have a variety of battery type and runtime options.
