Hi.

Was searching through the kaidomain SSC's . Came across this.

Nice flashlight. Tail clicky (from the looks of it) + a dinmming switch near the head.

I'd love to see some beamshots, runtime chart, lumens rating, e.t.c if they compare with the Waion version.

Also about the older BV-16's threads, no mention of runtimes of how the mode switch worked. Such as if the modes were "click once" to changer mode or hold down to slowly dim or brighten.

Lastly. Does the FL remember the mode you were in at last use?

I don't have measurements but I think the older VB-16 modes are more or less linear in current draw, i.e. it would run about twice as long when running at half power.

The level setting buttons sweep through the levels. It takes maybe 2 seconds to go from one end to the other. Because the change is linear instead of logarithmic, you see the brightness change a lot faster at the lower levels than at the higher levels. If you push and release quick, you can get it to change one level at a time - sometimes two...

And yes, it does remember the last mode you set (don't know how it can, but it does...). BTW, it is a true forward clicky, although the recessed tail standing button makes it a little harder to get to the button (true of all tail standing clicky lights with recessed buttons...:thumbsdow).

Thanks Nerdgineer.

I wonder if the one at Kai is the same.

I'm considering getting another Ultrafire C2. However the VB-16 is very attractive.

I wonder how they would fair against one and other? Especially in side spill.

Some postings about the vb-16 from dx has no mode switch (that little) red button).

Thanks again.

These two seem to be hitting the market at the same time. I've emailed Kai asking for some more info. The original VB-16 is one of my all time faves due to it's easy mode switching and ability to get very, very low (as well as very, very bright for a Luxeon). It was the ultimate baby checking light for us but unfortunately either my wife lost it or the baby ate it.

Kai version:

The same light? Sketchy info so far. . .

I wouldn't miss the SOS or strobe mode at all. Where did you hear that it doesn't memorize the last level, one of it's best features?? I don't see this anywhere. . .

That post from Waion doesn't say anything about the light not remembering its last setting. All of the VB-16s remember the last setting, as far as I know.

I'd certainly be interested in Waion's fourth generation version but he only got in 50 and doesn't have immediate plans for more.

I haven't seen the fourth generation but used to have both the second and third. I sold the third because, although it switched smoothly, it didn't go quite all the way down to barely lit, which I think was a mistake, even as it improved by adding a tailcap clicky.

WitsEnd is still selling the VB-16 here, too, for the benefit of CPF.
