I recently purchased a wall mount lamp for the outside of my house and when i got home, i noticed that the bulb base is different from the usual screw base. The lamp I have uses the GU24 base which is the base with two metal rods sticking out. Is there an adapter out there that can convert the GU24 base to a standard E26 base so I can continue to use my existing bulbs? Otherwise, I will have to modify it on my own. Thanks.

It is illegal to use regular base bulbs in a GU-24 lamp. That is why they developed the GU-24 base in the first place - to prevent people from stocking up on 100W bulbs, then using them after they are banned. You have to use ENERGY STAR bulbs.
Just swap the base. Make sure your bulb is below the wattage rating of the lamp.

Where are you located...presumably N.A. but not sure where else
E26 bases are used. If only for safety and insurance reasons I
would not modify the socket or lamp bases. GU-24 CFLs are
available but more expensive than E26's. If all you want is to use
incandescent E26's, I suggest getting another lamp.

Thanks for the replies...

Just for the record:

I'm not planning to use incans, only CFLs with the E26 base since i have quite a few of them left.

Guess I'll have to start looking for some lower wattage CFLs. Currently, i have a 13 watt in place but i would like one that's lower wattage as it will be on from dusk till the morning light.
