I'm having a hard time deciding between the H50 and H501 and wondered if anyone knows if a good image that illustrates the difference between the 120 and 80 degree beams on medium and high. I'm inclined to go for 80 degrees because I'd generally rather see a little further but I also don't want to give up too much useful spill.

I would go with the 80. (h501) because the button is better than the twisty (in my opinion) and 80 degress is still a whole lot of flood.

I have both and like the H501 better because of narrower 80deg. beam, the built in reflector is much nicer than the rubber boot on H50, and the switch is easier than a twisty. It only requires a half turn of the tailcap to lockout the button so there's no worry of accidental activation in your pocket BTW. There's still tons of spill with the H501.

IMHO the H50's beam is too wide. Even 80 degrees is wide. Would swap my 50 for a 501 without hesitation.

Good choice if your worried about not enough flood with my 501 I have to turn my head to see the end of the flood area. The flood lights up everything in front and a good part of my peripheral, if not all of it.
