Ran into john goodman and george clooney when "oh brother, where art thou" was being filmed. John is TALL and BIG.
And a customer of mine ran into samuel l. jackson while they were both playing golf when "a time to kill" was being filmed. They said he did the whole spiel from pulp fiction right there on the golf course.

Being I live in So Cal I've seen or met quite a few.
I knew a couple of bands that became quite famous too. I went to the same schools and hung out with the same friends. Great White and Motley Crue.
But some of the most notable was Eddie Van Halen and his ex Valerie who I met at a Pasadena bar and talked with for a while as we have mutual friends. Surprised how short Eddie was but had basketball player length hands.
Also my neighbor down the street about 5 houses was Teri Copely during our high school days.
But a few years back I used to work out quite heavily and at my gym I saw Jennifer Alba working out several different times with a personal trainer. This was about the time when she was going to have a show on Fox. Sorry, but I forgot the name of the show.
But she was definitely very beautiful in person. Turns out she lived not to far away from me and went to high school nearby.
An off the wall celebrity I met and also partied with was Grace Jones when I just got out of high school and it was on Sunset strip. She had just been put on the cover of Vogue or some similar mag and wasn't a singer yet. She looked very normal then.
Another off the wall celebrity I met was James Stacy at the Santa Monica Airplane museum. He pulled up to us in his car and was concerned of a possible gas leak so he asked us if we noticed it too. We didn't recognize him at first but when we saw him speeding around in his electric scooter in the museum we figured it out.
I have more but won't bore you with them.

I may be wrong, but I heard he was in the LAPD for awhile. Also I think Bobby Sherman also. And Lou Ferigno is an honarary LAPD or sheriff who went thru all the training.Sixpointone said:

Ken Osmond was an LAPD cop for 18 years until shot 3 times; 2 hit his vest and the other was stopped by his belt buckle! He retired after that.

I'm not sure exactly what the definition of a celebrity is but I got the chance to meet Michael Gorbachev, Ronald Regan, Nancy Pelosi, Huey Lewis, Tiger Woods, Brandi Chasitian, The President of South Korea, Bill Clinton, George Bush Sr., Jane Goodall, Don Johnson, George Benson, Diana Krall, Helmet Kohl and countless other heads of state/countries in the 80's and Jane Fonda, who I acually bumped into hard in a hallway of the St Francis Hotel in SF. She did have an hardbody!

None for me, but my father was the son of a Hollywood studio musician and bandleader and grew up in Beverly Hills. No money left from it, though. Went to Sunday school as a child with Elizabeth Taylor, went to high school with Richard Chamberlain (actually my father chickened out of a school play that may have given him an acting start). When my dad was little all sorts of folks would come over to his father's house for practice or meetings. He played with Bing Crosby's kids once. Also a famous '40s drummer I'm trying to remember the name of.
Wish I had gotten these stories down before my father died a couple years ago. I still have my grandfather's alto sax and a pair of ocarinas. If you ever check out Artie Shaw or other similar albums, you may be listening to the sax.

Sherman: no...he teaches and certifies cops in CPR (haha...I initially typed 'CPF') and first aid.
Osmond: Definitely. Did motor as well as car patrol and some investigative work.

I work at a TV station so I quite frequently have contact with celebrities and Politicians.
Let's see, Pres. George Bush, when he was campaigning before becoming president, I got to shake his hand when he was at the VFW Post #1, and his father, George HW Bush, when he was Vice President, I shook his hand as well. I was about 30 feet from Pres. Ronald Reagan when he delivered a speech in Chicago. Since GW became President, I haven't had close contact with the President, but I did shake hands with the First Lady, and met Lynne Cheney at events in Denver. The Secret Service and FBI have done background checks on me several times a year when the dignitaries are in town. John Kerry was here for a visit, but I never got any closer than 100 feet as he walked by. He kept us waiting in the rain for two hours, until it stopped raining before he got off the plane.
Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson was in town for a Weight Watcher's contest, and I got to be there when the Duchess surprised a contest winner by ringing her doorbell un-announced, and I helped as the ENG truck operator by setting up for the interview. She is a lovely lady, and taller than I expected.
George Lopez, Roger Ebert, Raquel Welch, were all in our studio and I was their escort and coffee fetcher as they were doing guest appearances from our news set.
Many years ago, Buddy Hackett was in the hallway of the Marriot Hotel in Denver, just outside the door to his room in his bathrobe looking bored early in the morning. He was appearing at a nearby night club, The Sign of the Dove, and was staying at the Marriot. My wife and I said hello, and he winked at us. At the same Night Club that Buddy Hackett was performing at, the tables were touching the stage, and we had conversations as part of their performances with Bill Cosby and Jay Leno. Both Cosby and Leno get their audiences involved and we were right at the stage. Bonnie Raitt, when I was still in High School so it was 1972 or 1973, was appearing at a local bar, and there were maybe a dozen people in the audience, and my two friends and I were sitting with our feet up on the stage, during the concert. Incredible talent! Also when I was in High School, I was a photographer for the school paper, and John Denver was doing a concert in Denver, and I was there for the sound check at the Auditorium before the concert, and in the dressing room following the concert. Before the concert, he needed a needle file to fix a guitar string guide, and I ran to Caboose Hobbies, at that time located just around the corner from the theatre. He was very gracious and fun to hang out with.
I spent three weeks in Israel as part of the video crew for a Gospel music festival, and got to work directly with Larnell Harris, Steve Green, Wayne Watson, Phil Driscoll, Wintley Phipps, Sandi Patti, Twila Paris, Thurlo Spurr, Ralph Carmichel, and many other performers. I got to play tour guide with Twila Paris and her brother through the old city of Jerusalem, when she had just a brief time available for a tour before the concert, and she had to leave after the concert.
I have also helped out with a Christian Concert promoter friend of mine with performer schmoozing and other support. I picked up the band DC-Talk at DIA and took them to their hotel, and then on to Red Rocks for the concert. I have also met Phil Keaggy many times (world's best guitar player), and many other performers as well, but the pinnacle was when I got to meet Duke, the Bush Beans Dog, and Jay Bush, his human. Duke had a three person entourage, and did not offer me the recipe for the beans. Oh, I also got to hold the Stanley Cup when it was at our studio.

I met Bruce Lee around the year of 1966-1967.
My father was a Gardener for Bruce for about 3-4 months.
It was right after Green Hornet was cancelled.
I got an autographed picture but I lost it. Boy I wish I had that picture!

I'm not into meeting celebrities, getting my picture taken with them, or collecting autographs. What I really enjoy is locating and going to places that I've seen on TV; especially the western and sci-fi TV shows I've seen as a child. It's sort of like fulfilling a childhood dream of being part of the adventure.
Now I can sit on my friends couch watching some TV show and say "I've been there" or "that place was also used to film.....". Funny, I've actually stirred enough interest in some of my friends that they too have joined me in going to filming locations.
