Any ideas on how to do this without ruining the ring, I received a nice specimen today but the inside for the lens needs to be cleaned. Anybody know where I can buy a replacement, the Shop has none in stock....thanks

What PSM said. Mine has smudges too and I would love to get behind there and rub away, but from what I have heard and seen, it is best to leave it. I think little to no light or retardation is lost or occures.

Enjoy a great light!

Go for it Groundhog! Just look at mine, no smudges!!!

Unfortunately, mine is already out. I ordered a replacement from the Shoppe, this may take me over the edge. Wish I had made this post PRIOR to taking it upon myself to remove the window, we shall see how it goes.

I hope you got about 4-5 O-rings too. Heres whats gonna happen, you'll be going along good, then the last 1.5" will be a big loop. You'll have more O-ring than space left. But you have time to do research, so you'll be OK. If you get frustrated, set it down and come back later. Trust me.

I certainly couldn't tell by your pic that you got frustrated.....

Why do you think I am having to purchase a new window, mine looked like yours. Reading some other posts, it seems that the 4mm window "should" be easier to install. I do have a couple o-rings on the way (thank you), so hopefully it will be okay. Thanks for your support PSM, we'll see if you are there for me in my future time of need. :naughty:

The Shoppe had a limited run a while back they were $60 a piece, you could e-mail Wayne at the Shoppe and ask where he got his.

Ian :)

Well.....how did I do?

The difference in window thickness must have made a HUGE difference, it took all of 2 minutes to complete.
