I can't speak with any authority of course, and I'm not sure Henry would want us trying his warranty like this. You can do this to a Boss because it's potted, internally sealed. Know what else is potted? Yep, HDS.
That is friken amazing!! Did not know this was possible. I figured for one water would get into cell. I thought they had a vent. And two water in that light hurt nothing? Wonder if you could do that to an HDS??

Nice! I'm guessing water in the tail would confuse the elf inside of the rotary mechanism, but would a rotary still function as a clicky with water inside?

You have to try harder than this to get water in far enough to confuse the elf. He's pretty smart, but when he does get confused, he just backs up with Clicky functionality.

I would think though, if you are changing your battery completely submerged, you have much bigger problems to think about than your flashlight, especially considering the efficiency of the HDS.

Anybody know what the factory brightness settings are? Specifically, which of the 24 levels is factory medium, medium high, and low? Thanks.

.................

-I think the new V5 Rotaries have all levels set to rotary;

Older HDS Factory Presets:

Also see: http://www.hdssystems.com/Content/LightFaq/ (How bright is each brightness level).

HDS Exec Clicky (ANSI) "200" "250" "325"

Preset A= Level 24 > 1.65hrs - 200. lm - 250. lm - 325. lm = Click-Press-Hold
Preset B= Level 16 > (30.0hrs) - 08.1 lm - 09.4 lm - 11.1 lm = "Turn On" if preset (or memory, last)
Preset C= Level 20 > (7.25hrs) - 40.3 lm - 48.5 lm - 60.2 lm = Double Click (from on)
Preset D= Level 08 > (05 days) - 0.33 lm - 0.35 lm - 0.38 lm = Triple Click (from on)

LE Models:
A= Level 24
B= Level 24
C= Level 20
D= Strobe

UPC codes.
All begin with EDC:

R1S (R is for Rotary S is for Stainless bezel)
E1B (E is for Executive "clicky" and B is for a Black bezel.)
L1B (L is for LE "clicky" and B is for a Black bezel.)
T1B (T for Tactical "rotary" and B is for a Black bezel.)

N170 Neutral is EDC-R1S-N170, so an N170 is a 170 lumen neutral light.

Very excited to have just placed an order for a high CRI executive. I'm assuming the delay associated with the rotaries does not apply to clickies?

We will probably have to let Hogo answer that.

219b is a great choice:thumbsup:
You will now have 1 rotary and 1 clicky:D
with your 219b and high noon, you should be temporarily set.

We are shipping now, so any delay is pretty much just us trying to get through the back orders... which are pretty numerous! I'll know more when I'm at HDS on Tuesday, but I know there is still a stack of backorders we need to get out, and should be able to get most out this coming week. There are some circuit boards at a the pick and place shop awaiting electronics and emitters to be put on (they have had them for a few weeks and Henry has been dealing with them) so I'll see where that is. Did I ever mention how messed up inventory was?

I'm the new kid on the block. Had my first phone call with Henry today. He's a pleasant fellow. I learned that I have to wait two weeks for my high CRI executive. Yes, I know it says as much on the website, but I was hoping for a Montgomery Scott sort of miracle. (Say it takes two weeks, when you know it only takes 48 hours, kind of a thing).

Oh well. It's worth the wait.

Edit: accidentally posted this on the wrong HDS thread. Really am new in HDS land.
