Headlamp switches

During the past 9 months, I have had 3 headlamps and each failed because of (I think) a problem with switch. I use the headlamps when I run in the morning, usually 4 times a week. I had two Petzl Tikka Pluses and 1 Princeton Eos. After two weeks use with the first Petzl, a white creamy substance appearred behind the lens. With the second Petzl, it took about 4 months before the creamy stuff appeared. After 4 months with the Eos, I noticed that the switch cycled through just two modes. After I changed batteries, the headlamp no longer illuminated. The only thing in common appears to be the switches. Has anyone heard of similar problems?

I haven't had any switch or buildup problems with my Petzel Tikka XP, PT Aurora, Eveready LED headlamp. The Eveready has no water seals at all, so I would think it would have failed some time ago. I've had it over 18 months now. I use any of those 3 headlamps when I run, which I do 4 days a week.

Perhaps you need to open the battery case each time you come back from a run to let the insides dry out.

I'm surprised you had problems with the PT EOS, since the switch on it appears to be waterproof.

Since sweat has a high salt content, I'm sure any that gets behind the switches will cause corrosion if not allowed to dry.

When I opened the Eos, I did notice condensation on the batteries. I always rinse the headband after a run and hang it to dry with the headband hanging down, away from the lamp. I don't mind opening the Eos, but the Petzl always was a pain. Thanks for the advice.
