Hi CPF'ers, My name is Les and I'm brand new here.
I recently returned from a canoeing trip on which I only took along a cheap give-away led flashlight. I was very disapointed with the sporadic performance, so I bought an Icon Rogue 1 from my local outfitting store. I liked the light and decided to check around on the web to see what else I was missing. WHOAH!!! I was blown away by the size of the flashlight community and the depth that people get involved. I read good things about Malkoff and bought a drop-in for my 6D Maglite. I was amazed by the difference and instantly caught the flashlight bug.
The malkoff drop-in is rated at 260 lumens and being the newbie that I am, I saw the Terralux TLE-300M-EX rated at 700 lumens and needed to have it for my old 4D Maglite. At first I was disapointed that there wasn't a bigger difference, but then I went for a walk in the dark and noticed that they are two very different lights. The Malkoff is great for long distance spotting, and the Terralux has a much wider spill. I love the Terralux for going on walks and the Malkoff for playing around and surprising my friends.
I've ordered a second Malkoff 6D Maglite drop-in for work to look down water wells. (I'm a well technician)
The question I have is this; If the Malkoff is rated at 260 lumens in a 3D light, is it rated higher in a 6D light, or is it regulated to produce the same output regardless of the voltage and only have a longer run-time?
thanks for reading this and I look forward to your answers
Cheers
