[HELP] Any online source for SAE-8740 steel?

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for round bars of SAE-8740 steel, at least 7/16" diameter and 6" long.

This is to turn them to specimens and do a tension test as a university project.

Any clues will be apreciated.

I couldn't find anything you'll be able to buy online directly. You might be able to contact a large steel supplier and ask for a sample by explaining your from a university.

You may also find one of its other trade names helpful:
DIN: 40NiCr Mo2-2
