Hello everybody - really cool forum you've got here!

I am looking for a new flashlight for my parents. I've got a couple of Nitecores myself, but I would prefer something of traditional Maglite 2C or 2D size for easier handling and better grip during longer walks.

It is an absolute must that the flashlight is easy to use and as "idiot proof" as possible - meaning not more than 2 different output modes or something like that and easy switching between them.

Preferrably compatible with standard European batteries - meaning a pack of AA-, C- or D-cell batteries.

As I mentioned, the flashlight is primarily to be used when walking the dog and so forth, for which reason extreme output is not a requirement. Decent run time of a few hours is preferred though as well as a narrow or medium flood beam.

I actually thought about just bying them a LED Maglite 2C or something like that, but sure there must be better lights out there meeting the criteria - I just havent been able to find them yet.

To summarize:

2-3 C/D Size
AA-, C- or D-cell compatible
Idiot proof / simply operation
Decent output - Narrow / Medium flood
Decent battery life
Decent build quality

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

/ Andreas
