Just wondering if anybody has experience with this setup. I'm interested in getting a quad-bore 2D Mag from Jesus and using the 8AA to 2D from fivemega but had a few concerns.

How well do the batteries fit in the tube? Is there a lot of slop or play? Do they rattle at all?

Does the quad-bore weaken the Mag body significantly? I wouldn't want to drop the Mag and have the tube break.

Thanks!

All very legitimate concerns, but let me reassure you that very little aluminum needs to be removed in tri or quad bore jobs. There is not the least bit of concern on any of those issues you raised. Both Jesus and FM do superb work.

If you want to reassure yourself further, you can fit some AA's 4 wide without boring if you pick the right brand, and turn the overlap of cell label to the inside. Overall because of heat expansion and sliding cells in and out, it is really well worth getting the boring done.

With FM's holder, the plastic ends and/or middle guide take up any slop, so it ends up being a perfect setup, and I have many of them.

Thanks for the info.

So your saying fivemega's 8AA to 2D adapter *might* work in a non-bored Mag?

I'll still end up ordering a bored one. Just asked out of curiosity.
