I've been looking in this forum for a while for a medium thrower. I've been looking at the Dereelight CL1H V4 R2 and the Fenix TK11 R2 or boring out my Surefire 6P and buying a Malkoff M30. Please could someone recommend one of these or something similar in this class.

Thanks,

Jess

You'll be equally happy with any of them. The CL1H and TK11 don't require any machining, si I'd concentrate on those.

:welcome:
I'm not sure how do you define "medium" throwers, but if it's anything to compare with the lights you mention, may I suggest you check out Surefire E2D Led.

I agree with the poster above, the Surefire E2DL may be just what you're looking for, as it has a bit larger of a hotspot than the TK11, not to mention the E2DL is just plain awesome. Be aware that it will have less spill than the TK11, though. I have no experience with the Malkoff..

Since you are looking at an M30, I assume you want to be able to use 18650's. You might want to look at the Eagletac T10L as well. It is similar to the TK11-R2 (it has basically the same UI and output levels). It has decent throw, but the spill is also very bright compared to other lights of its size.

Another alternative is to buy a Solarforce host (see the recent solarforce treads), and get a Malkoff or a Dereelight drop in.

Dereelights are throwers..So Fenix would be considered Medium? Both are nice..The Dereelights feel alittle more durable but getting a reflector without a peel or blemish could be differcult..Took 3 reflectors for me to get one without a blemish and the blemished SMO has a better beam profile go figure!

I wouldn't really classify a CL1H as a LED "thrower," since it doesn't have a large reflector (like the A10, DBS, Raidfire spear, etc.). I wouldn't say that a medium thrower would really need to have a smooth reflector either, as some lights with LOP reflectors can throw pretty well too.

Thanks guys for all your help! The Surefire E2DL will be a nice bigger sister to my E1B, but i am tempted to go with either a Dereelight CL1H V4 R2 SMO or a Fenix TK11 R2. Am i right in thinking that the spill from the TK11 is the same as the TK10?

Discontinued Fenix R2 !! , hurry up you want one.
Very good choice for the price, 85 dollars / E2DL 145 dollars.

The spill of the TK10 should be a bit brighter then the spill from the TK11, but I don't think it would be noticeable. The Tk11 will have more throw though.

Thanks for all your help guys.

After reading a bit about the Dereelight and the Fenix, i think i'll go for the CL1H V4.
