Hey everyone, I was about to order parts for a SureFire/Leef lego, but then the new "Torch" comes out. I can't decide if I want a firestarter, or a more practical light. What are yall's opinions?

This is the lego. I already have a ROP/5761, I know they put out more light, but for a useful light runtime is a little short. I wish I could buy both, but thats not an option right now.

Practical is always the best choice. I have everything (30+ built lights) from a 2 lumen to a 12000 lumen. I carry an LED surefire g2 every day. The rest only come out to play. Once you have found a rock solid goto flashlight you can and will count on, then comes all the fun stuff :D If you feel like you have the basics covered, then by all means get a "torch." All of the custom lights that come outa mac's and a few other places are freakin works of art imo. Good luck choosing. Me? I'd buy both. lol

As many know, I only like using LED's inside where there flood, weird color, and generally lower lumen output work fine. Outdoors, I only use incan lights, with one exception...the LED aspheric lens mod that Mac or Ledean made. Otherwise, the realistic color spectrum, farther throwing incan mods are the only thing I want outdoors. If I was outdoors camping where I had plenty of time to get and keep night vision online, then many LED's can work....but I still hate their ghoulish color spectrum and lack of contrast they have outside.

The DBS V2 w/ R2 WH emitter is a nice thrower with less of a color contrast compromise than nearly all (if not all) of the current Q5 LED lights. See Dereelight DBS V2 R2! WOW! for an R2 WH vs. Q5 WC beamshot comparison and general assessments of the DBS V2 w/ R2 WH. I would go with your initial Lego and either the MN16, or EO-M3T for an ideal compromise between output and runtime.
