Hi folks,

Hope this post finds you and families well.
I'm in need of a few lights here in the sandbox and would be grateful for your assistance in the selection.

As you've guessed by now the units must be durable and capable. In that I would like a light that has a good flood to throw balance with an edge toward throw (Group I & II) and center brightness along with Min/Max output (Cool tint presumably to get the max brightness would be my guess).

Currently have the L4 / ND 10 / NEX along with me, however I'd rather buy a few different units to address different tasks to test out here in the sandbox. Note that I currently have the Lx2 inbound.

Below are the selections and I'd like your advice on which of the listed two I should opt for from each group. Please note that we have an abundance of SF 123 batteries so I'm not concerned with rechargeable cells at this time.

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

-Al

Group I: (General Indoor & Outdoor with best downrange reach of the two)
4x7 123-2 R2
OR
Jet-III Pro ST

Group II: (Mid downrange illumination 100m/150m + good flood)
Jet-III Military
OR
M20 Warrior

Group III: (Fun!)
Jet-M1X
OR
Tiablo A10/ACE

Can't recommend any of those since I don't own them. I'd be feeding those free SF 123s to some SF's. Thank you for your service.

Well I also don't have any of those to speak of but if I was heading to the sandbox I would bring.

2 Malkoff MD2 with HAIII Black coating with Malkoff M60s with high/low rings in both.
1 Malkoff MD4 Wildcat.

Just search Malkoff devices for his website.

Oh yeah Devil Dog, whatever you get you better post some good reviews with pictures.

Marines Lead the Way!

Jet III Pro ST is a fine light, you may wish to consider getting the broad voltage version as that can take either 1x18650 or 2xCR123s.

The Quark with XP-E throws very well for how small it is. Many good things about it. I highly recommend it.

I would recomend the Jetbeam items, I would check on interchangability of tailcaps between lights as sticking with one make with interchangable parts could help if you have a switch problem.

So I vote Jetbeam

I was NOT impressed with the M1X, with its rather large donut hole.

it is to distracting, imo.
the ACE-G, while with less throw, would be better for spotting things.

Great post

Cool story as for me. I'd like to read more concerning that topic.

Re: Great post

I am a Jetbeam fan, but I chose the 47 123^2 over the Jet-III ST. Reason being that the Jet-III ST is obsolete by now, its output/runtime is way too low to be worthwhile nowadays IMO, especially when compared to the 123^2.

You can screw the reflector out a little to defocus the beam and the donut would be minimised which would end up something similar to an ACE-G, less throw.
With the M1X, you get to choose, while with the ACE-G you don't.
