Can anyone tell me how where to solder the Vin +/- leads on the BB500? From the picture on the old sandwhiche shoppe site, it looks like the + lead goes onto the right hand side of the C1 diode and the - lead goes on the top join of the coil (inductor?). Wired up like this, all i get is a lot of heat, so either ive wired it up wrong, or the board is kaput. And yes, the LED is wired up to it, and it works when directly connected to a battery.

hi kakster,

If you turn the board such that C1 is facing you and at the 6 o'clock position, the -ve should be soldered onto the right hand side, and +ve on the left side (the side nearer the inductor.

That's how all the TK's were soldered by me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hope this helps

EDIT: BTW, for the BB400/500/700/750, the -ve lead can also share ground with the -ve lead of the LED. Additionally, an alternative solder point for the +ve Vin lead is the solder point of the inductor closest to C1. From time to time, I've found myself using these alternative points depending on the mod I'm doing.

Kaxter,

I always solder the V- (in) to one of the vias in the group of two where the V- for the LED lead goes. Ground or common can be picked up elsewhere as well.

For V+ (in) I always solder to the counter clockwise side of the inductor (if the center of the inductor is at 12 o'clock (looking down at the PCB with the component side up), then I solder on the left side or at 10 O'clock.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Out of hiding comes Leo to beat me to it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif He says cap I say inductor.... You'll notice that these two positions are connected in the circuit.

Well,

You have been awake longer than I have. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Thanks for the quick response guys /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Looks like ive probably blown this board, but ill try those points mentioned above. If its still dead, then ill have to order another, but at least ill know what im doing this time.
