I'm trying to find some high quality "D" size protected Li-Ion cells to power my 1xD Mag P7 project.

Can anyone recommend some and a good charger?

Thanks,
Robert

you could go with an 18650 and make a sleeve, they are easier to find

Hmm, you got me thinking...

I wonder if I could go with AW's protected "C" size (25.5mm x 53.5mm) cells (3300mAh) and get around 1 hour of runtime.

What can I use as a D > C spacer? Anyone?
I'm guessing that if I stretch the stock spring a bit the 53.5mm long "C" cells should fit?

Thanks everyone!
Robert

I like using paper towels wrapped around cells as spacers, they are flexible, shock absorbing and you clean the inside of your flashlight as you insert and remove them. LOL then again I am kinda cheap.

you can wrap masking tape around the battery until it fits good. And I think the c li-ions are a little longer than regular cs, sounds like streching the spring would work....

That might not be too bad of an idea :)

I use D-size LiION from KD and charge them with RC type chargers in a charging 'clamp' made from a quick fix clamp and some 20 gauge electrical wire. C size or 18650 also work, but those cells don't take advantage of the space available. Different gauges of pvc pipe sold in hardware stores make good sleeves, take the light and cell you plan to use to the shop and measure which sizes you need.

Someone is selling custom li-ion d cells in custom light forum. they are at 3500mah. heck, he even has f cells (seems 4x f cells are same length as 6 x d cells). Mag might work with f cells and keep volts in line
