High Temp PR Bulb Holder for 2C Sportsman

This is a bulb holder I designed for my 2C Ray-O-Vac Sportsman. It is made out of Fluorogold, which is a glass-filled Teflon. The reason for using a filled teflon is because it is stiffer and easier to machine than virgin Teflon. It could also be made out of other filled Teflons, Ultem, or similar materials.

I originally conceived a 1-piece design, but due to the difficulty in machining the non-standard threads to fit the reflector, it was simpler to go to a 2-piece design. I also originally had a set screw near the end where the bulb enters, but the threads quickly stripped out. After using it for a while I realize that the set screw is not needed anyway. The holder just slips on and stays as is.

The ugly soldered loop sticking out the bottom is the anode contact, which is soldered to the spring and loops around to prevent rotation. I just made it out of solder braid. Were I to try again I would look to use an aluminum rivet in the center I think to hold the spring down and contact the battery. Oh well, it works!
