Flashlight Enthusiast
HI guys I just got back from Holiday at a place called Salt Spring Island Canada.
This is a remote (from me) exotic (to me) EXPENSIVE, and somewhat difficult to get to place (planes, cars, and Ferries) (from California)to get to.
Once there it was wonderful.
I brought several flashlights with me.
I used 3.
One was my Lunasol 20.
an other was a Mule with a Nichia 083 LE.
The Last was a Nightcore D10.
Since the Lunasol 20 was worn around my neck it got used the most and also got the most "interest".
People (some) were very impressed with the "look" and functional design of the light.
For me it just had (has) the most utility.
Up there on the island it was plenty dark and the nightly walks in the dark were well served by the Lunasol's high beam.
Around the campfire when building smores the Low was perfect for finding the parts and assembling the Smores elements.
I also carried the Nightcore in the pocket of my pants for Loaning out and when more than one light might be necessary (band aid application and cut cleanup, finding lost Items)
It was a perfect light to hand to a KID and there were plenty. How does it work they would say. I would say press the button on the back, they would and it worked just fine.
It came back looking as new as it looked when it went. They did a good job with that 7075 and HAIII finish.
The Mule well it just does what it does and does it well. I found it perfect for walking as a group and lighting the wide area around the lead walker. At Night in the very dark the Mule is perfect for this.
I now think I need a 3 speed Mule... More dynamic range would serve me well.
OK that's it is It was a wonderful trip. My lights worked perfectly.
I over packed Batteries and chargers.
I also had Backup flashlights which were in my backpack that I did not need. (I Travel with lights on carry on because I hate the idea of a TSA saying on a search WOW "I really could use this"..... I would rather not tempt them.
Oh quick funny story (at least I thought so) I approached the TSA agent WHO IS THERE to compare the Drivers Lic with the name on the ticket.
She Used a UV (coast) light to check the Licence. I said Oh that Looks like a UV flashlight, Is it? and she said "We can't discuss operational aspects of our job including equipment". It was funny at the time.
One other TSA guy asked about the Lunasol (in the basket going through the x Rey) I said it was an LED flashlight he said "Oh we know all about those". Somehow I doubt he knew anything about the Lunasol 20.
I took a minute and showed him the Lunasol 20 had he instantly realised how useful a Light like the Lunasol 20 would be. He asked the question$$$
He did not like the answer and told me to move on...
