Homemade combat rings, any ideas?

I know surefire sells combat rings, but I was wondering if anyone made their own. I like the ones that come on the nightfighter and thought maybe you could use a rubber gasket or grommet from a hardware store. Any ideas would be appreciated.

LOL, getting back to the topic, a while back someone posted about particular plumbing seals at Home Depot that make good combat rings, I wish I could find it for you. I am also looking for a replacement ring for a SureFire C3 groove but haven't yet spent 20 minutes at HD looking for something like that...
