How bad of a surefire beam before replacement?

So i just got my surefire L1 in the mail today, with the red led, the beam is terrible. The website said "flawless beam, no hotspots or rings." Well, mine looks like a bullseye, has more rings than any other light i own, and there's a scratch on the inside of the lens that shows in the beam. I was hoping for much better, my 6P beam is amazing, so i figured for 3 times the price it could at least be that good. Should i try to return it to where i bought it or maybe try surefire?

hmm, could oyu post a pic of the beam shot? the l1 optic does make a few rings.

Wow that's amazing, i know you've been around a lot, i've seen a lot of your posts, so i know you know what it should look like. I just think it looks like garbage. Oh well, maybe i'll be a true cpfer and buy 3 more red lights and keep the one i like best.

theres one plan, just so you know the red luxeon beam with an TIR optic isnt very pretty.
