I just received my Huntlight FT01XSE XR-E and noticed the threads and battery tube are quite rough.
What is the best way to clean and smooth out the threads and battery tube?

First thing is to clean it then you can lube with a light oil. I use CLP its a gun cleaner found at walmart. CLP= Clean Lube Protect. I spray some on a Qtip then I just run it around pn a coupe tips till one is clean. Do that on both pieces. Then I thread the item together and work it in and out 5 times or so. Then repeat by cleaning. The CLP acts as a lightweight oil/lube also. So once its feeling smooth just wet another qtip after its clean then run it around a couple times to lube it.

If you want you can clean with Alcohol and lube with a lightweight oil. Radioshack sells some for like 1.50 in a small needle type applicator.

Do I need to lube the battery tube? I have used rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush to clean the threads of the head and tail cap. I then lubed it but the threads are still rough.

It seems the machining of the threads are not the greatest. Anyway to fix this?

If the threads themselves are rough, you can do several things.

You can restore damaged threads with a special file known as a "thread restoration file". It has teeth at the required pitch and angle for specific threads. It files away the damaged parts.

You can also use a very, very fine lapping compound to grind the threads against each other. It will remove the high spots. You have to be very careful to clean out all the grit when you are done, otherwise it will continue to eat up the threads.
