This question may be hard to put a number too, but I'm going to ask anyway. When running my Solarforce L2P with low voltage 3-mode XP-G on high, how hot is acceptable before doing damage to the led?
I have 3 different brands of salvaged laptop 18650's that I want to do some run time tests to see when they get to around 3.0v. I tried this once right after getting the light and it seemed to get very warm. I won't say it got hot as I could still hold the light comfortably. It does seem that the heat is transferring to the body as it was also warm (but not as warm as the head). I would shut the light off and let it cool some (being over cautious?) and resume testing and later I just held the light, cupping the head which seemed to make it cooler using my hand as a heat-sink.
When I perform my next test, I was going to attach the thermo-couple lead from my DMM to monitor the temp, thus my question...how hot is too hot?
