So after completing my first ever flashlight mod (Mag 2D P7 running off 2 D Li-Ions, 3 mode driver), I'm itching to make something else :D

Maybe I'm overlook something, but I'd like to know from you experienced modders if this would work:

TrustFire TR-801
TrustFire Protected 18650 Lithium Battery
Cree MC-E LED
SSC P7 Li-ion 5-modes driver

The basic mod would follow what copiertech did here with a P7, except this would be using the new MC-E and wouldn't require drilling out the reflector.

Is it a safe assumption that a "P7 driver" would also work to drive an MC-E?

Any thoughts/concerns/opinions?

Thanks in advance everyone, I'm still very new to all of this,
Robert

I'm not an experienced modder so I shouldn't be answering this.

From what I know in theory though, this would work (only) if the MC-E is wired in parallel.

If the MC-E is wired in 2S2P or entirely in series, you would need twice or 4 times the voltage.

Since you are at liberty to wire up the MC-E however you please, you can do it in parallel.

From what I understand, you may have to slightly modify the reflector as well.
