I'm about to order a Raw Al, but can't decide between a 200/100 or a 200/20.

Personally I would like to have a bright beam for about 5 minutes and a low mode for the rest.

Does the 200lm Raw Al get hot after that time? Or should I go for the 200/100, using high mode for only short bursts?

I have the 20/200 raw AL although I would say mine is closer to 50/200 based on comparing other 20 and 100 lumen lights. Mine does not get too warm to hold, although I have run it on 200 only for probably 10 minutes max.

I have a new Raw Al 100/200 and new Raw NS 20/100, both with neutral white emitters. In my mind, since Aluminum is a better conductor, the Al was a better host for the higher output light engine.

The little bit I've used them this past week, I've concluded the 20/100 is the better good choice of the two. I agree with David that low is probably brighter than 20 lumens.

100 is plenty bright. When I switch from 100 to 200 on the Al, it's definitely brighter... but I question as to whether it makes the light more useful. I have yet to be in a circumstance where 100 didn't cut it and I needed 200.

Thanks for replies, I want a light that can put out crazy brightness for short times but also a low mode for the rest of the tasks and extended runtime. So it will be 200/20!!

I think you will be happy with 20/200. I like the low setting for most things, and the high for greater distance ( such as looking under homes and looking at roofs from the ground ) and of course, show off.

If 20 isn't enough, chances are 100 won't be either. I really like my 20/200, and though it's fairly rare I need to turn it to max, I'm glad it's there.
