I'm really fascinated with the Surefire E1. I may just start a collection of them. What I would like to know is how many differant models are there? How many differant colors, types of clips, bezels, etc...

How about mods? Can you get a tube to screw onto the body so you can run it with 2x123? I thought I seen this someplace, but can't find it now.

Thanks,

E1 with removable clip:

E1 with riveted clip:

FC,

KL1-HA-WH
KL1-GM-WH

And haven't some colored LED's been made??

Oh yea, those GM KL1s. Never knew they made one till few day ago. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

p.s. I am not counting bright orange E1e...

It's not really orange - more yellow gold...

Remember that the E Series bezel was changed a few times to make the Lamp Assemblies easier to remove.
Also, there are E Series bezels with tear-drops and also with tear-drops and a flat 'race track' shaped location for the SureFire logo and model name (rather then just etching it onto the round bezel.

The KL1 comes in different beam colours too.

The MN04 wasn't made for public release.

Ages ago I saw a black Original E1 on Ebay. Nearly bought it but chickened out cos this was just before I got my first SF and was still at the "they sure are expensive" stage, and couldn`t justify spending 50 bucks on something so small. A couple weeks later I took the plunge and shelled out for an Original 9Z.

Of course nowadays things are different - I havn`t looked back. But I digress....

Guess that one would have been a E1-BK. No LOTC and probably the hex-screw-secured clip too, cos it was a long time ago. Never seen one since.

Thanks for all the info. I'm finding the E1 so damn handy. I keep it in my right front pocket. I preaty much forget it's there until I need a light.

I'm thinking how cool it would be to have the latest E1e.
LOTC, Type III hard anodized finish, Pyrex lens, upgraded removable stainless steel pocket clip and the hex bezel.

Do I really need all these improvments over the E1-GM that I have now?
NO!

Will the light that comes from the latest E1e be any differant?
NO!

Do I still want it?
Yes!

What's wrong with me? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ] Try a E2e-HA. It is the handiest of all Surefire lights and has the pyrex lens, LOTC and Type III HA finish. You'll also get 45 more lumens and not a whole lot more size.

Ok, My collection of E1 series lights is now at two /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I have the E1-GM and E1e-HA.

Thanks again for all the great information you guys have posted on the E1 series.

Does anyone know when Surefire first introduced the E1 series?

I would also love to see photo's of all the differant E1 series posted here or emailed to me so I could use them for future references.

The yellow gold one looks cool. To bad they did not make one in camo.

I got my first E1-GM in November 2000. At the time I was told there were only 5 E1's in the UK.

I guess they were either released in late 2000 or the UK was very slow to catch on!

Surefire's reply:

The E1 was introduced in 1999.
