What are the big differences going to be? Selectable output levels?

Re: How much better will the L5 and L6 be than the

Larger reflectors and tighter beams coupled with likely higher current to the LED's. These will be constant current at a set rate. (I defer to my sig line. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

The "KL" are LED Bezels.

The L4 is the E2e with a KL4 on.
The L5 is the M2/C2 with a KL5 on.
The L6 is the M3 with a KL6 on.

The only current SureFire product with a Selectable output level Luxeon is the L1 (two-stage TailCap pressure switch)

It is possible that an L2 (5W Luxeon, two SF123As, two-stage TailCap pressure switch) is in the works. This is based on a photo in the 2003 Catalog of part of the L2 body, and the fact that the L2 (1W Luxeon) from thr 2002 Catalog was never released.

I hope this helps?

Along with what's been said... realize that the KL5/6 bezels will be *substantially* larger than the KL4. The KL5/6 offerings are in a different ball game since they're meant for much larger, more expensive hosts. Since the current offerings of KLX products fit mechanically-switched lights, I wouldn't expect them to have adjustable brightness.

If by "better" you mean bigger, more expensive and capable of a tighter beam, then the KL5/6 should be WAY better than the L4. But if "better" means smaller, cheaper, and capable of a wider flood beam, you may be disappointed.

It certainly is exciting to see all these 5W offerings coming up in the near future!

E2E4ME - for input on selectable multiple output level SFs with 5W LEDs do a search for SF ULTRA here on CPF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gotta be careful with "wind-up"s! Once you set them down and let them go, you never know what direction they'll take!

(Explanation, just in case: It's a play on words - Wind-up = joke, Wind-up = toy car you wind up to make it roll across the kitchen floor in random directions. Often neither of them go the way intended. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

There is no such thing! Don't you guys get that it was a wind up?!

Just to quote it all together in one place and we´ll surely see sooner or later if this was a joke or not, whatever the final name of this product will be, if it ever hits the market. At least, if not, we still have PG @ ARC to the rescue for a multi-level dimmable 5W LS. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Quote: Yes, we a aware of the need for a variable power 5 watt LED light, and that's why we have built the SureFire Ultra. The Ultra is a 2x SF123 cell flashlight with a 5 watt Luxeon Star and a 6 position hall effect power control ring. The power level is adjustable over 100:1 range, giving 5 watts at the top end and 50 mW at the bottom. Although this light is not available yet we did show prototypes at this year's SHOT show. The production light about the same size as out M3. I'm finalizing the electronics currently. ENDQUOTE

According to the SF2003 cataloque - yes
According to some people "in the know" - maybe not

We will see soon

It will be interesting to see if the L5 uses the C2 or M2 body since the M2 has an extra O-ring at the tailcap...

beretta1526: it wouldn't really matter, since the C2 and M2 bodies are identical; you can simply add an extra O-ring if one isn't present on the L5 body /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
