How to make a quick and beam diffuser!

Those white plastic bags that you get at the checkout counter make excellent beam diffusers.Cut a piece that fits over the bezel of your flashlight.You can attach it with a rubber band or by other methods.
It doesn't look cool but it works great. Just a tip I thought I would pass along.

Doesn't HDPE melt fairly easily? I think you'd need to be careful about that.

Not on an led light. It works on my Olight. Might not work on Incandecents which was why I put the post in the Led forum.

You make a perfectly valid point about it being OK on your Olight, and I'm sure it would work equally well on many others.

Obviously, putting it on a Mag623 would be asking for trouble, but some incans run no hotter than LED lights, and some LED lights do get pretty hot...

I just make the point about heat as something for members to think about.

I have to try the shopping bag idea. Gatorade caps (clear ones) also fit on some lights IIRC.

For smaller lights, chapstick caps and chair leg covers (the white rubber things you put on the bottom so the legs dont scratch your floor) have been good to me. I also have a trio of SF F04 'beam shapers' that fit a lot more lights than just the SF E-series

The white bag idea works. I have found the Fuji film canisters also work, depending on the light diameter. Makes a nice lantern effect.

The thing to consider with incans vs led is that leds sink their heat backward into the light. Incans radiate it forward out the reflector; if you put your hand in front of one, you'll feel it. On a high powered light, this could be too much for such a thin layer. But for leds, it would be a good fit.
