How to mount an optic holder onto a star?

I've just bought a L2 optic holder and elliptical lens and a Luxeon I on a star. The optic holder fits well on the star, but doesn't snap on it. So I'm wondering how to fasten the holder to the star either:

1. temporarily, so that it is removable
2. permanently (using glue?)

If I need to use glue, what kind should be used as I read that vapours from cyanoacrylate or epoxy can damage the LED lens?
