How to remove bezel M6

A specialized tool is needed to do it well, but they aren't readily available and are usually custom made. I suppose you could do it with the right set of pliers, but it might get ugly.

RPM has made some M3 bezels in Ti, and he will be doing some M6 ones.

He has designed a tool to remove the stock bezel - you can see pics in post #1 of this thread. The tool fits into the 6 notches on the inside of the bezel. The same principle will apply for the M6.

Gripping the head tightly enough in order to unscrew the bezel with the tool is quite another matter, and I haven't managed to get mine off yet!

The thread is sealed with loctite or something similar, and heat (+ considerable force) is probably required.

Those who have managed this should be able to tell you more...

I put my 6PD bezel in my padded vise and used a soft thick towel to lay over top of bezel.

I used a piece of brass about 3/8" in diameter to lay over the rag and between the deepest part of the crenellations, push down hard so not to slip and turn CCW, came off after a few tries with no scratches or mars on my bezel, it worked fine.

It should work for the M6 too.

Use a heat gun. Items threadlocked with permanent Loctite compounds such as 271 can be disassembled when heated to approximately 250°C (482°F).
