Hello,

I am a newbie in the DIY projects.
I would like to know whether it is possible to seal a regular aluminum flashlight
(Trustfire/ultrafire/...)

I owe a recoil Ultrafire WF-008 flashlight.

Is that possible to make it waterproof for diving?

Thanks,
Yan.

I don't know this light other than from the pictures I see on dealextreme, but the rubber booth over the clicky switch is going to be a problem I think.

If you manage to seel this, what would stop underwater pressure from pushing this booth inwards and switching the light?

other than that, I see that the tailcap has an o-ring. You'll want to replace this one with a good quality and likely a thicker one.
I don't know how the head opens, but I can see the line just after the bezel on the top. I'm guessing this will keep the glass in place. perhaps you can add an o-ring somewhere there to get it to seal, but still, I'd be more worried about the tailcap...

edit, just looked again at your picture, and there seem to be some o-rings in the head. if these are good quality, you might get it sealed there.

hope this helps.

+1, the clicky has to go. Once you figure that out, may need to replace orings with next size up or goop everything up with silicone and teflon tape and underwater epoxy or something.

Easy to do with a maglite since it has been done a million times and info is available... With this you'll spend a lot of time figuring out orings and such.

Sometimes it's possible to convert a "clicky" tailcap into a "twisty" tailcap with a little epoxy. It depends on the individual light as to whether it will work.

If you can click your light on and then slightly unscrew the tailcap and have it go off it may be a good candidate for this approach. If you have to almost unscrew the tailcap before it goes off then this is not a good approach.
