Oh well, the Sportsmans Warehouse here is closing down so all flashlights are half off including Surefire, so I scooted over to the flashlight area to see what they had left. Needless to say they were pretty well cleaned out, but I got an E2E and a M4 for HALF OFF! No bs, they are in my possesion. To be honest i really bought them because that was all they had left (thank goodness!).

I am new to the flashlight sceen and as such I am completely unfamiliar with rechargable batteries, and I definatly want to go the rechargable route. I think that I would preffer protected cells, but what exactly do I need? I have seen refference to so many different batteries, what are the benefits of one over another?

The E2E uses two 123's and the M4 uses four, should I use four individual batteries or one big battery in the E2E and two bigger batteries in the M4?

Also what charger and where to buy?

I did a search, but I kept getting some error message telling me that I had used too many bytes even though it was less then what should have been allocable?

Anyway, thanks for your help.

I kno

1/2 off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On SureFire?!@?!@!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!$??!@$?#!@?%@#?%?21

excuse me.... I need a moment.... to .... I'm going to go over...

...here now and be jealous.

OK I think I have gathered myself now.... please click on the link in my sig line. (the li-ion incan guide/chart)... The compatibility chart shows what can be done with both of those lights, and the guide will explain why and how to do it correctly/safely.

Damn. Where do you live? You could make a mint taking orders on this site!

In short, to use rechargeable batteries you need to change the lamps in both of these lights.

In the M4, get an MN15 or an MN16, and two of AWs protected 17670s from the dealers section here at CPF.

Lumens factory also make a couple of lamps that would work well with this battery set up.

For the E2E you'll have to go the Lumens Factory route. They have a few choices, you can either use a single 17670 and run EO-E1R, or get 2x RCR123s and either the EO-E2R or the HO-E2R.

OFFTOPIC:

You know this is interesting. Even on clearance a store would never sell below cost, so this mean for all surefire dealer out there, their markup is at least 100%.

Why introduce off topic into the conversation? SF and other markups have been discussed to death before.

I don't know how things work on your side of the world, but that's clearly not the case over here.

Going out of business means is basically a loss minimisation exercise since resale is not really an option.

I have seen new industrial equipment e.g. 6 month old commerical juice blenders go for less than $50, commercial street furniture for $5 a piece. On the consumer side of things, I have seen furniture been sold for far, far under cost price: a hideously ugly 5 piece italian leather lounge suite going for $350. All of these examples are far under cost price...

Back to the main discussion: That's a fantastic deal. Please read up on lithium ion batteries as linked in mdocod's guide - it is a quite comprehensive post!

Let me ask you: will you be using these lights enough to warrant the cost of a rechargeable setup? E.g. for the E2E you might spend $30 to get a basic rechargeable setup - that is 15 sets of primaries!

jzmtl, please keep this discussion on topic.

joeycoates, welcome to CPF - that is an excellent deal you made there. As you are asking about batteries, this thread probably belongs in the the 'Batteries Included' forum.

It's not 15 sets of primary if you factor in shipping. If it's a E2L it'll run for quite a while but not on a high output incan.

Thanks for the tip NZGunnie! I will begin looking...

On a side note, I went back to the store today and asked to go behind the counter just to make SURE that there were not any other SF's back there and sure enough I found another M4 NIB, which I bought :ohgeez: and two more E2E's NIB, I bought one of them.

They still have (maybe had by now)

1 E2E NIB
1 E2E on display
1 M4 on display
1 A2 Aviator on display
1 Kroma on display

All are 50% off, the store is Sportsmans Warehouse in Louisville Texas and I believe two others in San Antonio and Wisconcent (sp) are also going out of business and thus have the same discount.

They also had a lot of Streamlight products, but I cannot remember exactly what they were. I have one of the M4's on sale in the classified section to fund some of the other purchases.

Just a heads up if anyone is in the area....

You should have bought the A2 as well ;).

As mentioned above, an M4 w/ 2 LI Ion 17670s and either MN15 / 16 bulbs ( I vote MN16) or the Lumensfactory versions will work great. Check out Lighthound, they are based in TX.
