As the title line states, I got my new EDC knife today. The purchase of my new SOG Flash II was influenced by a review done by Nutnfancy (http://www.youtube.com/user/nutnfancy).
There is something satisfying about opening the packaging of my new EDC blade with the old EDC blade (BenchMade Mini Ambush). Both of which I purchased from Blade HQ (http://www.bladehq.com/cat--All-Items--1)
I hope the links help. But, please know that I have noting directly to do with or am associated with either resource.

This is also my work EDC. I got mine a couple years ago and its still in good condition. Of course I have not tried to use it as a screwdriver or to pry anything. I believe I have only opened envelopes and cut some lemons with it. I like it because the handle cannot be scratched and it super rugged. Enjoy.

Your gonna love that blade. I took mine apart and removed the safety lock instead of the super glue trick nutn recommends.

Also beware, if you use the pocket clip you will lose your knife. I stopped using it after dropping (and luckily finding) my flash II three or four times. I'm gonna take it apart again and remove the clip.

Other than that, the thing is durable, sharp as a razor, quick to deploy, light.

Congrats.

Very nice blade LedTed!
I know the feeling of opening your new EDC with the old one, its like a right of passage :)
Sadly automatic knives are illegal to carry where i live, so no nice SOGs or Benchmades for me :mecry: I'm sticking with my SAK for now, as EDCing a CRKT Hissatsu is both impractical and illegal :)
May it serve you well.

Alex

I have never lost my knife because of the clip. I think the clip is very nice because it lets the knife go in pretty deep in the pocket and has good tension. Also the safety lever has never been accidentally switched on by itself. Alex this is a spring assisted automatic but not a button activated auto I live in California which is very strict and I was able to buy it at Turners a sport goods store. Is OZ stricter than Cali.?

I am aware this is a spring assisted blade BIGLOU, I have a growing collection of blades, some of which have been "disabled" by having the spring removed, allowing them to be imported.

It has probably been discussed a million times here before, but according to the NSW weapons prohibition act 1998 item 1 even spring assists are illegal:
(1) A flick knife (or other similar device) that has a blade which opens automatically by gravity or centrifugal force or by any pressure applied to a button, spring or device in or attached to the handle of the knife.

It is also illegal to carry a knife in a public place unless you have significant justification, if you're carrying a nice shiny knife for "self defence" you will be arrested. A SAK or Multitool is legal because it has use other than as a knife. We've had some pretty nasty knife crime in Sydney, and in other cities like Melbourne, which the politicians are using as justification for tightening the laws.

Hope that cleared things up for you BIGLOU :)

Alex
