Ok, I just read a small thing about someone dropping their laser and knocking crystals out of place. About 4 months ago before cpf before flashaholic etc. I ordered my first newwish 5mw. (first greenie) It worked for a little bit until the crystal assy was knocked out of place. I didn't know any better so when it got REALLY dim I looked directly into it to see if I could see anything wrong. All I saw was a very dim red light. :caution::caution::caution::caution::caution::shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:shakehead:poke::poke::poke::poke::poke::eek::eek::eek::eek:. It was infrared light....... I didn't even know the damage was being done and I looked directly into the lens and tried to shake them back into place. How stupid was I? Oh yeah, lets look right inside the lens of a powerful laser and push the button! I can't BELIEVE!!! How lucky I was not to sustain damage. Not to worry, about 3 weeks later I bought a 30mw laser and blasted my retina with pure green light. Wow I'm a little bit shocked now :p!!!!!

Wow, just when you thought you learnt a life long lesson, you manage to pull off another one of these stunts....Maybe you should take some time away from lasers altogether.

Wow... you guys are brutal. :shakehead

Glad you're o.k. Stephen.

You're obviously not the only one, or they wouldn't have made the ever-popular "Do not look into laser with remaining eye." sign. :sick2:

I was going to post some scathing comment...insulting, but just a little bit funny. Then I thought about it...this is not a joking matter.

Everyone reading this... Please take a lesson from our new friend, Blinky. Don't look into a LASER device...EVER!

Lasers should be traeated as weapons.
Never aim it to anyone including yourself and always unarm it (remove the batteries) when not in use.

I was inexperienced and ignorant. I deserve the comments above so don't worry guys, I'm not offended. I just realized how stupid that was. But put yourself in a noobs position. It's putting out no visible light, it can't hurt to look into it? WRONG! ugh, so glad I did not apparent damage.

Anyone who can admit they made a mistake in order to help others not to do the same thing is ok in my book. It takes a big person to share that he was ignorant with something. I know I'm certainly lacking in many areas...

Thanks for sharing MadPotato

That's nothing, I bought on ebay a 980nm 60mW laser, I DID NOT know that 980nm was infra red, I though it was a 60mw red laser.

I though the 980nm was the size of the diode or something light that, I ask the seller why the laser wasn't working, but before he sent me the answer I turn it the laser on, and I was so :scowl: that it wasn't working that I looked for a second inside the lens and I saw a very dim light. Then I got a reply from the seller telling me it was infrared laser and once again i was more :scowl: because I paid $60 for it, thank God that the my eyes didn't damage.

That happends when you're a newie :D , but I learn it a lot since then (1 month ago ) hehe
