I really need to try one of these and see how I like them. After a previous post of me asking about battery life and such I am a bit inspired to take the plunge and was looking at the Surefire E1E. I'd like to get something that is small and after seeing a review or two of this little gaffer I think it just might make a good first Incan?

The E1e at 15 lumens is too dim for my tastes, I never really could get into that light. The E2e at 60 lumens is much brighter.

However the E1e with one rechargeable IMR16340 cell running a Lumens Factory EO-E1R is very bright. So who knows, it may be your thing.

I'm just saying this because you will likely be very underwhelmed by the stock output of the E1e.

ampdude, thanks for your thoughts and the info. I originally thought the lumen might be a bit low as well but saw a comparison shot of the beam on a wall with some other lights and was quite surprised. I just need a small edc carry that is non blinding and will get most jobs asked of it done with relative ease. I'll maybe check the demo light out first before I buy it.

I use my E2d as my EDC, love it. Bright enough to get the job done and decent runtime, the cren bezel is nice for defense purposes as well. :naughty:

Damn, you people are no good for my wallet :(
I got my first good incan recently, a Surefire A2. It was love at first sight. I now have added a lumens factory EO-4 in a solarforce L2 body to my stable, a really great light, very solid output and runtime on 18650. Now i'm on the lookout for an E1e, and I keep seeing these kind of threads, it's not helping! :broke: lovecpf
I really like the idea of the EO-E1R, it seems like a great addition to an already excellent small light!

The Surefire E-Series have a cult like following for their craftsmanship, size and and ability to be modded. I have 6 of them including the E1e. They are addictive!

The E-Series is the right choice. The reflectors have plenty of surround beam. I'd recommend the E2E with an MN02 bulb. 2-Cells form factor, in case you want to upgrade later, 25 lumens that throws relatively good for the size/out-put, and 2.5 hours of solid runtime!

Thanks all, took it out last night and it is a great light. It sure is a pleasure to carry around as well. Could maybe use another half and inch in length so I don't fumble it out of sheath but hey I'm just picking here. :D

Great! Now that you have a little taste, you can get the E2e/E2d. It is a little longer since it uses 2 primaries instead of 1. Alot brighter and thanks to companies like Lumens Factory, There are a lot of options for bulbs and batteries to crank out more lumens. Welcome to the E-series addiction.

Let me add another voice to the MN02 club. It really is a great little lamp.

Fivemega, would it be possible to make one of those an E/C tube? I have an idea for one of those involving Milkyspit... one of these days when I can afford to hire him.

The MN02 is one of my favorite all time SF bulbs. Basically you have the light of a 4D mag with fresh batteries in the palm of your hand for nearly three hours. Incredible. The MN03 is great, especially as a tactical lamp in harsh conditions, but sometimes with that one you have to worry about if you've run it for too long, and "are the batteries going to suddenly die", with the MN02 you usually don't have that concern as often.

I see someone is selling a e2e 2 cel shell for about $30. If one grabbed one of those would all I need to do is screw in the bezel and tailcap and away we go? Will the stock lamp inside the e1e handle 6 volts does anyone know?
I originally said to self I wasn't going to be doing any mods but you guys are
"bad." :D

No, the stock MN01 E1e lamp will not handle 6 volts, you will need to use a 6 volt lamp such as the MN02 or MN03 among others.. such as the Lumens Factory lamps that fit this application.
