Hi, I would appreciate any and all help to select a new worklight. I am a railroad worker and need to have a dependable and bright light to work with. It must be led. I am looking for something that I can use rechargeable batteries, run time is important as is size, I also would like a light that only has on and off, no multi mode. I could manage to carry something as big as a 2d mag light as long as it was lighter. I am looking at buying a light, batteries and charger. I would like to stay under $200 if possible. I do have a SF 9p and 6p that I could upgrade to led, but at this point, I think I'm looking for a new light with maybe a triple led head. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

A good P60 LED drop-in will work in both your 9P and 6P.

For the 6P get an AW 17670 li-on rechargeable battery and charger.

For the 9P get two AW 17500 li-on rechargeable batteries and charger.

If you want the brightest drop-ins that give the least runtime go for the Q5 models such as Malkoff's or BugOutGearUSA's.

If you want a less bright option and longer runtime go for a Malkoff low-output model or the stock Surefire P60L.

A Surefire Lumamax L7, provides a LED light, batteries and chargers....

from the website
Max Output: 100 lumens
Runtime: 2.5 hours

Extended-runtime, high-intensity LED flashlight for tactical, duty, and general use. Virtually indestructible power-regulated light emitting diode (LED) provides smooth, brilliant, pre-focused, tactical-level beam five times the light of a big two-D-cell flashlight—bright enough to temporarily blind and disorient a person by impairing his night-adapted vision. Sold as a complete system that includes two B90 batteries, a mountable SmartCharger charging cradle, AC transformer, and DC auto adapter. SmartCharger protects charging batteries from voltage spikes. Long runtime, high light output, rechargeable battery make it perfect for nightly duty use.

With Surefire's lifetime warranty, would think it might be a good choice.

Good Luck,

Your 9P is a perfect work light. Just visit ebay for a Cree XR-E Q5 dropin bulb replacement and lighthound.com for 2-4 17500 rechargeable batteries and the charger. Will be less than a hundred.

Sounds like a Pelican 7060 LED Rechargeable Police Flashlight
may bejust the light for you.

The railroads have a certain Flash light spec don't they?

The 7060 can be found for just over $110.00 if you poke around.
It is a vey heavy duty light with a good quality beam.

Sombody mentioned that a 9p with a malkoff drop in may be perfect. It may be perfect.

There is no doubt that the Malkoff drop in makes a great light out of a good light.

Either way I am sure you will find somthing good.

They might have had specs at some point, but the lantern's that they issue are extremely poor for lighting up anything past 30 feet or so and are not very bright. When I'm a mile and a half away from the locomotives in the middle of nowhere, it's nice to be able to see. Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I will look into all of those options and place my order. Thanks again.
