I think I've figured out how to make an E3e with a bezel down pocket clip!

Okay, well sort of. I was thinking about the Surefire E1B tonight and how I wished there was a two and three cell version. I emailed Surefire the other day asking about such a light, but never received a response.

I just happen to have two DSpeck E-series 1 cell extenders. I'm thinking of taking the E1B body and putting both of those extenders on it, a Z61, Z57 or Z52 tailcap and a Lumens Factory EO-E2R. What do you all think.. or am I looney?

I have a Vital Gear 3, but I'm always worried that someday the switch will go out at the worst possible time, (even though I don't use the light much). I like to have backup switches available. And I'm still hoping that AW will bring out some IMR17500's :)

My obsession with the E-series lights knows no bounds. :D

Very interesting man, seems nice.

(Now if I understood what you said :sigh:)

Me myself like that comco just as it is...
I just wanted to let you know that the guys at the hound has spare inerts for the VG clicker..

Wouldn't installing the extenders on the E1B body make a longer light with the clip in the same place (ie, too close to the head).

I'd think you would have a bezel-down light with 1 or 2 cells sticking out of your pocket when you were done?

Perhaps I don't understand.

The clip on the E1b is reversible.....:D

Just making sure I'm not going crazy. I might be anyway, but at least this thread doesn't provide further evidence to it. :)

The E1B clip is attached to the body which would be separated from the head by the two one-cell spacers. Assuming one's pockets aren't too small, the light should stick out just as much as a stock E1B.

ampdude, My E2L is just as bright as my E1B on both levels. Basically it's a two-cell E1B with reversed levels.

I didn't realize the spacers were for the head-to-body portion and not for the tail-to-body portion like most other extensions. If the extensions are for the head-end of the light, that's the information I was missing to make sense of the OP. Thanks :)

yup! the E-series extenders attach to the head. The extenders have the width of the head though, rather than the body, so it would be thicker than a normal E-series light. But it's basically the closest I can get to an E3e, aside from locating a prototype. I have a Dspeck 3 cell E-series body, but it lacks a clip.

Ampdude,

I thought about the 3 cr123 and EO-E2R combo before also, since most other Lumens Factory 7.4v bulbs can take three primaries. However, I went to the source and asked Mark at Lumens Factory, and he cautioned me that three primaries had a good chance of instaflashing the EO-E2R, and suggested that if I wanted a three-primary E-series bulb, the HO-E2R would probably work OK, but none of them were designed for three primary cells.
