I want a Titanium light!

So far, I can't tell if the white fleck is affecting the beam. Technically, it should make some effect, by blocking some of the light, but I can't tell.

It just bugs me having a little scrap of junk floating around inside there :(

Both my damaged head i received as new from 47 and the head i got as a replacement had dirt behind the lens or on the reflector...

Don't get me wrong here, 47 brand is nice value-for-money stuff but its by no mean high quality, all the lights and parts i received from them show that they're especially lacking in good/clean assembly and quality control.... But hey, you get what you pay for, and i would certainly not hesitate to buy from their line again!

IMHO Quark is a relatively INEXPENSIVE product that offers a great deal of performance and value for the money. They are wonderful and I carry mine all the time.

They are not an EXPENSIVE product that offers custom-level fit & finish.

I agree with some previous posters. If your going titanium for EDC ya almost gotta go with the Haiku XP-G or any McGizmo for that matter. I would however strongly consider and personally prefer the Ra Titanium Clicky myself..if I were to be into titanium flashlights. :naughty:

Wow that is exactly what the crud on my lens looks like. Same color, and about the same size even.

I'm not sure it's worth worrying about, since it doesn't appear to affect the beam quality and I have to look for the debris to find it on the lens.

I had a feeling you problem would be quite the same ;)

But like everybody else here confirms, its not a high quality light built by high standards... Just nice value for money!

Luckily for me they make more mistakes during assembly, my replacement light arrived with the head partially unscrewed and after a quick inspection i found that it had almost no locktite in the threads... I could just unscrew the head and clean it all :thumbsup:

Yeah, that's lucky for you.

Mine is a mini, and if I'm not mistaken, the head on the mini is glued together. I think I read somewhere that I would have to heat it up to around 150 F to loosen the glue and take it apart. I think I'll just live with the fleck on the lens rather than risk damaging the light.

Maybe when the XP-G emitter becomes obsolete I'll try my hand at disassembling the head for an emitter upgrade :)

My Ti Quark Mini CR123 has no blemishes on the lens, no green tint to the beam, no issues with the threads. I had considered picking up the AA version of this light. But the more I read about these lights, the more it seems I was very lucky to get one without any of the above issues. :shakehead

Funny, my Titanium Quark Mini CR123 doesn't have blemishes either, and has a pretty good tint on the beam.

My AA however has a greenish beam, and crud under the lens (I ordered a CR123 and a AA both at the same time)

I wonder if the CR123 versions have better quality control. Nah it's probably a coincidence.

Note: Regardless of the slightly green tint, I think the Quark Mini AA Titanium with a 14500 cell is a winner for my EDC needs... With the 14500 cell it appears to be just as bright as the CR123 version. I had it with me at a family party tonight and we needed a flashlight a couple times, and people were just amazed at how small and bright it was. There were comments like "Whoah crazy!" and "That is the brightest flashlight I have ever seen!" and "That tiny thing is brighter than any of my big flashlights!"

It's funny, I do have other lights that are brighter, or have longer throw, or have longer runtime, or some combination of those things, but I think in the end, the best flashlight is the one you have on hand when you need it... Those other lights don't come even close to being as useful to me as a pocket light, because most of the time they are at home on a shelf whereas the pocket light is always there :D A pocket light that actually performs admirably and is brighter than what the average person has seen, well that's just icing on the cake...

Ti is actually heavier than Alu and weaker than proper steel... Its just a nice in-between metal, worst of both worlds kind of thing ;)

So why? Why a titanium light over aluminum? Just cause?

Of all my Ti lights (20+ and counting) the four that I EDC the most are: McG´s XP-G Haiku, Steve´s Volere, Steve´s LF2XT 3´rd run Ti, and Sunwayman´s V10R Ti. With the AA adapter I can use both 123 and AA cells in the V10R Ti. All these lights are keepers for me and are used daily.

My only titanium light is the Sunwayman V10R Ti. I haven't seen it mentioned much in this thread, but it's a nice Ti light powered by a single CR123 and has a variable brightness ring. It's a light worthy of consideration.

No titanium light has threads better than the tc-r2 (because the treads aren't titanium) and it has infinite adjustment UI - not just several ramping levels.
