I have a 20-25 year old streamlight 5D host that I want to modify into something brighter. serial #RA303745

LED or something like the MAG 85.

If anybody is familiar with this light, type of bulbs, LED drop ins or more extensive mods please give me ideas.

Thanks

I have an old 4c streamlight[ 20 year old] I really like, put an R.O.P. bulb in it. The bulb holder and reflector were metal already just have to figure out how to change the lense, it hasn't melted yet though, using 2 c li-ons to drive it, I couldn't get enough sub c's in it . yours would hold enough, maybe 6 fullsize 'c' rechargeables, as for led's, the mag drop in worked. the terra lux wouldn't, the threads are different and the trra lux is threaded in the heat sink. it has to be like a bulb. Thanks for the ideas. The ROP bulb conversion sounds like the ticket.

Could anyone compare the length of 6C's to 5D's? Or give me the measurements of each. I do not have access to any for a couple of days.

What exactly are Sub C's?

Thanks

SubC cells are Nimh cells that are smaller than C cells. Same diameter different length. You should be able to squeeze 6 SubC cells into a 4D light. You will definately be able to fit it into a 5D light. Possibly even 7.

Here's a good resource here on CPF regarding the ROP.

The first page will tell you where to get all the parts.
